Benkis Photography creates portrait experiences for people who want something more distinctive than conventional portrait photography. Our work ranges from polished luxury portraiture to fully developed conceptual imagery built around an idea, character, mood, or visual story.

Luxury Portraiture
Luxury portraiture begins with the person rather than a predetermined pose or package. We build the session around how you want to be seen, the atmosphere you want the photographs to carry, and where the finished images may ultimately live.
Styling, wardrobe, lighting, posing, and environment are considered together so the final photographs feel cohesive and deliberately created.
Sessions can range from refined and understated to dramatic, fashion-inspired, or highly stylized depending on the person and the direction of the project.

Conceptual work starts somewhere different: with an idea.
A photograph may begin with a character, a piece of wardrobe, a location, a lighting concept, a visual reference, or simply a mood we want to explore. From there, Mike and Amy develop the concept collaboratively until the individual pieces begin to support the same story.
Some concepts remain restrained and atmospheric. Others become elaborate productions involving styling, props, location work, dramatic lighting, or significant post-production.
What matters is that every creative choice belongs to the final image rather than being added simply for effect.

Two Artists Behind the Session
The conceptual and portrait work of Benkis Photography is a collaborative process between Mike and Amy.
Amy brings a fine-art background and works as both a photographer and creative director, with a strong role in concept development, styling, wardrobe, posing, composition, and visual direction. Mike frequently concentrates on lighting design and technical execution while contributing to the concept and final visual decisions.
Both create photographs, and each brings a distinct perspective to the work. That combination is an important part of what gives Benkis Photography's portrait imagery its visual identity.
The Portrait Experience
The exact process changes with the project, but most commissioned portrait work follows four stages.

Conversation
We begin by talking about you, the purpose of the photographs, the visual direction you're drawn to, and what you want the finished work to feel like.

Concept & Styling
We refine wardrobe, styling, location or studio environment, lighting direction, and other visual elements so the session has a clear identity before the camera comes out.

The Session
During the session, posing and direction remain collaborative. We adjust lighting, expression, movement, and composition as the photographs develop rather than rigidly following a shot list.

Finished Artwork
Selected photographs are carefully edited and finished to support the original concept and create a cohesive final body of work.
